So it had to come out eventually: my favorite band is Three Days Grace. I love post-grunge alternative rock- it's my absolute favorite music genre. I love Breaking Benjamin, Chevelle, 10 Years, Emery, and Cold to name a few. I've seen 3DG play 6 times. Amazing.
Adam Gontier, the lead singer, has been extremely inspirational for me since I first discovered the band back in 2003.
If you feel inclined, check out the documentary about his struggles with pain pill abuse called Behind The Pain. I can't relate directly but I still think his story is remarkable. It's an amazing thing to be able to use music as an outlet; he even gave solo performances at various rehabilitation centers to encourage people to get over their addictions.
The band has signed with a new label, RCA Records, and is in the studio working on their fourth album titled "Venus."
I can't really choose a favorite song because it completely depends on my mood. Since they're a "hard rock" band and that doesn't really fit in with all the pink and sequins on net vignette, I'm leaning towards an acoustic version of one of their tracks but that's just not primarily who they are. Since I can't pick a favorite, I'm leaning towards a track that's most meaningful to Adam, "Never Too Late." It's clearly important to him- he has the lyrics to the chorus tattooed on his right arm.
I can't include only one song so here's Adam's acoustic version of "Rooster" by Alice in Chains. It's beautiful- and when I heard it live, I'm pretty sure I didn't breathe for it's entirety. He hits the high notes at the end and everything. I'm not sure why the video keeps playing after the 4:30 mark- I think it's from their dvd "Live at the Palace."
